PDF Search engine's new digs

While I was reorganizing my servers this weekend, I decided to move Printfu to my new cloud server setup, as well as give it a new interface and advertising channels. I ultimately decided to dropped the ugly Google Adwords for my more profitable Amazon Product Advertising ads, and rewrote the entire searching algorithm.

PrintFu has been my little technical plaything for the last 6 years, in fact my very first post for this blog was introducing the FuBlog – a name that later turned to BrandonsHead and then iCorbin. Originally, PrintFu was a PDF printing service in partnership with my dads printing company – as this post from 2005 explains.

The PDF Printing was a mild success, but most of Printfu’s traffic was to the PDF search engine (a trick I quickly built to try to boost sales). In fact, I was making more money on advertising than I was printing and mailing the physical books. So I decided to  shut down the  Printing service, and focus on search and playing the SEO game (which was much easier 6 years ago). Since then, the Printfu search model has now been copied by countless others some are pretty good, while others are awful – but each one is a complete eye sore.
