For the last 12 years we have experienced the internet in basically the same static boring way, sure we came up with clever hacks to make HTML do things it didn’t – but by and large, the way we interact with the information is the same.
Designers continually craved creating rich and engaging experiences, but were limited to using proprietary software like Adobe Flash. Don’t get me wrong, Flash is a great piece of software, but its controlled by one company, its a resource hog and most importantly its not available everywhere. This is where the Flash freaks will scream the “installed on 95% of the computers” statistics – that is provided by Adobe. FYI, that number is outright bullshit. Take away the iPhone, iPad, millions of cell phones, and all the cell phones that render flash that is not usable because there is no MOUSE, and that 95% is more like 60.
HTML on the other hand is efficient, controlled by the public and available everywhere, sure HTML hasn’t progressed nearly as fast as Flash has, but finally – thank god, I think we have made it, thanks to HTML5.
HTML5 will offer developers and designers new tags and tools that make building highly usable and feature rich online apps without any extra stuff. For example, the HTML5 browsers will support embedded databases – giving you the ability to store significantly more data well as SQL querying that data. Hell, the Canvas tag alone, will change the game forever with its ability to render 3D texture maps. Running entire 3D first person games will be a reality as soon as we make the transition. Read more about HTML5′s awesome powers.
The reason for the lack of progression in HTML is directly due to the work of Microsoft. But with the release of amazing open source browsers like Firefox, Safari and Chrome – Microsoft’s death grip on the internet experience is finally coming to a end.
How can you help the HTML5 Movement?
Install a modern browser: Firefox for People who like to Tinker and Google Chrome for everyone else.
Install Google Chrome for every non tech savvy person you know.

@jcunwired probably because it’s not like replacing hardware. in next redesign of web site, use HTML5 sted of flash. Hard to define extra $$
